This workshop will offer participants an overview of contemporary approaches to risk assessment and management in clinical and criminal justice settings. Risk assessment frameworks will be introduced and known risk factors described. Attention will be paid to risk reduction treatment models, relational security, protective factors and the influence of bias. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on risk errors and on issues relevant to the communication of risk judgments. Some prior knowledge of risk assessment would be an advantage. Dr Meera Aurora is a Principal Psychologist at Forensicare Chris Drake is a Principal Psychologist at Forensicare and Assistant Manager in the Problem Behaviour Program.
